Just for Weirdchild…

…because I love her too much to see her fail, I have decided to extend the challenge!! (i’m sure she’ll be grateful)

In the meantime, a couple of shares from me as my beautiful kiddies are now back at school so I have more crafty time available 🙂

This is a lovely Crafters Companion stamp which is coloured with oil pencils, distress ink and foiling for some pretty accents which was commissioned last week; however I am also including it a one of my challenge entries.

  • Marble Paper

Variations

Hi all, I’ve been a bit quiet recently, so I thought I would share some of my projects with you!

There was no clear winner for the last challenge; so I am calling it a draw! this months challenge is to create using new craftystash items. As mentioned before, they do not need to be newly purchased, just not yet used as I know that both Weirdchild and I have things hiding in our stash which has yet to see the light of day. Entries must state which item was new 😉

After studiously avoiding buying any of the Disney Princess goodies ever since they started bringing it all out on Create and Craft, I finally succumbed this Belle die and ‘Enchanted’ when they were having their mass all-must-go type sale a month or so ago on the basis that the word die could be used in a variety of situations and the Belle die (Whilst undeniably Belle) could be put with a variety of different back drops, sentiments and/or flowers and still look good. The main central stamp is a new one from Crafters Companion designed by Donna Ratcliffe; which I have coloured and then applied crackle medium over the top. I have also used ‘Lemon Sorbet’ diamond sparkles glitter by Hunkydory on the yellow items and another new product, scatter gems around the left-hand side of the image – we found the scatter gems by accident and thought “ooo……”

This is a quick little card which I put together as something to do with the image I had coloured. There is nothing new on here so not part of the challenge!

Similarly this happy little bear was also a quickie however the sequins I have embellished it with are new so it just about qualifies…

And Finally, This is another of Sylvia Zett’s beautiful images which I coloured up and then mass glittered. The background flower stamp that I have used is also new, its a Phil Martin stamp which I found unexpectedly reduced in the Range a little while ago 🙂

I haven’t yet decided if I like the finished item or not…. but I can always do a different version 🙂

Thank you for Stopping by!

Another Wedding Card

Good Morning everyone, some of you may remember the wedding card I did several weeks ago using the Tattered Lace accordion dies. This one is also using the accordion dies and for a wedding, but in a completely different style.

The brief was ‘old style film cameras’ and not ‘lovey dovey’ so this was what I came up with.

_20170513_005808

Side one has papers from my ‘all occasions’ USB, I have then imported camera images onto the top of the backing papers prior to printing. I have also used the colour mixer on ‘My Craft Studio’ to warm up the paper and then distressed it after printing with Rusty Hinge. The main image here is a Lily of the Valley Digistamp coloured with Spectrum Noir pens/pencils and with wink of stella over the top of the flowers and veil. On this particular digistamp there is no drawn bottom to the dress so what I have done to finish it off is run the bottom of the stamp through my die-cutting machine using one of the tattered lace torn edges dies (which means its also eligible for the challenge!). All of the ‘film’ is printed onto vellum and then strategically glued. I would strongly recommend to anyone doing this type of glueing that you invest in some small pegs as they are perfect for holding things like this in position whilst you carry on.

_20170513_005726

The papers for the reverse is a repeat of the front panels and the mid-section is left unembellished for the personal message. I have then tried to make the left-hand side mimic a dressing room.

The whole of this card is very solid, the base was Sheena Stamping card (300gsm) to start with and then the whole of the frame has a double layer of both black card and vellum. I like the frames being re-enforced as the structure of the card does mean that the frame edges can be a bit flimsy, especially if the centre panels are then heavily embellished.

And what posh card would be complete without a box to keep it in?! _20170513_133842

This Stamp is a Sheena Douglass stamp from the ‘Remember When’ collection. I had originally hoped to use this on the card itself but the image was too large for the style of card I went with. Since my client also very much liked this stamp, it made it’s way onto the box instead ;).

I really enjoyed this card and am proud of the result.

Thanks for reading!

Sylvia Zet

Whilst browsing pintrest the other day I found several lovely digi-stamps which I tracked down to the artist Sylvia Zet. I have therefore purchased a couple and this is the first one I have had a play with 🙂

_20170505_124204

What I also found whilst rummaging was a lovely border die by tattered lace which has been in my stash for a while, but hadn’t actually made it onto a project yet.

In this project I have used it on the main image so that the topper has the negative side and then cut a mat using the dies’ positive side then layered them up together to create this really nice edge.

Having found this die, it is also the inspiration for June’s challenge (I know we are not quite there yet) which is to use something new. It does not need to be freshly bought, just something that has not yet seen the light of day 😉

First Entry

This is my first use of the torn edge dies from tattered lace which is this month’s challenge

I have used the hexagon set; three different ‘For the love of stamps’ sets (Hunkydory) my usual copious supply of distress inks and my Spectrum Noir pens.

The Butterfly is also tattered lace and the embossing folder is from Crafters Companion.

First Wedding Card of the Year

This card is one of my most intense commissions of the year so far; it features the Tattered Lace accordion dies and a variety of other bits and pieces.

20170323_223055.jpg

There are three sizes of the die and I thought it would be nice to mix them together. Anyone familiar with accordion dies will notice that the middle sections are not joined together. This is because with the size difference they can only be joined if you make the smaller squares the same width as the largest one (otherwise the whole card warps) either by adding extra card of by extending their width with ribbon. I didn’t really like either option so instead I went with having the middle sections swinging free.

The brief for this card was a tricky one;

I was asked for decoupaged Forever Friends Wedding bears; Something to do with Music; Something to do with sport and a mix of both Western and Oriental influences in the general feel of the card.

We later narrowed down the sport to ‘tennis’ and the music to ‘the piano and violin’.

This is the back:

20170323_223146.jpg

The base of the card is from double-sided centura pearl, I have also used the centura for all of the embellishment die cuts. One of the things I really like about using CP is that the sheen of the card comes through once it has been coloured. The sports and music items are both digi-stamp builds so they are printed on some nice paper with a decoupage layer to allow the images to be beyond the size of the swing square. There is also a matching box however I failed to take a photo of it!

Western influence:

  • Key
  • Bears
  • Tennis
  • Piano/Violin

Eastern influence:

  • Chinese Lanterns
  • Red Packets
  • Brush Script Kanji (I think that’s right)

I am listing everything used below; please feel free to comment/ask questions 😉

Dies:

  • Tattered Lace accordian dies
  • Tattered Lace Torn edges squares
  • Tattered Lace hearts (both from mini assortments)
  • Tonic Key

  • First Edition Letters (these are part of Docrafts)
  • Delightful Daisies Sue Wilson
  • Sapphire set tag die

Other Embellishments:

  • Self Adhesive Lace
  • Musical embossing foler
  • Sticky Pearls
  • Clear liquid Drops
  • Assorted paper flowers
  • Daisy Punch

Images:

  • Forever friends (sourced from Docrafts)

And the Final Sprint

July is nearly done so these will probably be my last for the challenge.

IMG_1229

Only 6 in this photo ’cause I missed one 🙂

Card 1

IMG_1241

I decided to make use of a Create & Craft Members Gift which was a little book by Kanban. Both large image and small topper are from the book. Both have been matted onto gold mire (the smaller being taken out of centre of larger) Added black and gold layered snowflakes and Berry Red Nuvo drops all on an inherited red card.

Card 2

IMG_1231

From same pad, and same red card stock. Base matted onto rainbow mirri, topper onto black sparkle card, these two layers have been cut using Tattered Lace dies.

Card 3

IMG_1233

You will be getting the idea by now, these were mostly all made in a quick 2 hour craftathon. In this case the bottom layers are rainbow mirri card.

Card 4

IMG_1239

6″*6″ Base white card. Several layers cut either straight or again the Tattered Lace ‘tattered edge’ dies. The layers are Black , rainbow mirri, adorable red card, a sheet from the Kanban pad and finished with a simple greeting ( also from Kanban pad)

Card 5

IMG_1235

Back to Hunky-dory for this DL card (created on my way to bed one night…….. only went in to put something away) A left over piece of Xmas HD and topper. Base layered onto black. Topper layered onto some blue adorable scorable. The church ( crafters companion die) and sentiment also cut fro the blue , glitter and Nuvo drops added.

Card 6

IMG_1237

7″*7″ white base card. Embossed with a Spellbinder Mbossabilities folder, with silver gilding wax added. Black sparkle card from which layer used in card 2 has been cut. An off cut of rainbow mirri, to which final HD topper from set I was using has been added, domed over top with an off cut of HD snowfall acetate. Some dots of glitter added.

And finally card 7 that tried to escape.

IMG_1243

Base card is green, embossed with same folder and this time gold gilding wax added. Bottom image matted onto black, and topper matted onto gold.

So in total I used 7 sheets from Kanban pad, and I have 6 sentiment toppers remaining from them. A couple of HD mirri mats. All the other mats were from my offcuts box. The final bits of the HD Xmas set I previously used and finished off with glitter and Nuvo drops etc.
