Did this late one day about 3months ago (no rush then) its water and mica powders just randomly put on a A4 piece of card and left to dry.
At some point I have used half but today using the left over half.
Cut to size and then I have used a stencil and distress ink to complete the background. I have several stencils and am trying to make myself use them more as I do (mostly) like the results.
Added a HD topper and a couple of die cuts. Not clear but Gold Wink of Stella used on the butterfly elements of the die cuts. Added a punched flower, all cut elements are from purple layer of card used to mat onto HD mirri layer.
While faffing also found a use for those containers we all think “surely I have a use for you” I use nail polish remover to clean tools but its always a bit of a faff. Was doing that today and noticed this on my desk …
It does have the lid. I have decanted some remover into it and hey presto …………….
While general tidying I can put messy tools into pot and let soak for a few minutes with no extra mess.
Hello to all! I have been on holiday from work this week so I have been spending some quality crafting time (despite the bad weather) with various bits and bobs. While most of what I have been doing has just been playing, I was inspired by a fellow crafter to create a project that was a little more ambitious than a single card front; et voila!
The top picture is of the card closed, it then opens out into an extended concertina card as pictured below
The majority of the elements are from Sheena Douglass’ Time Traveller range, but I have added in a couple of extra bits 😉
From the new ‘Call of The Wild’ Range by Sheena Douglass
This is the image stamped; heat embossed and then fussy cut (as I do not yet have the matching die) I have then coloured it using distress inks and a little bit of spectrum sparkle with a finishing touch of Twinkling H2O for the white bits of the feathers. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and the torn edges on both this and all of the other torn edges in this piece are created using a deckle edge tearing ruler.
Section one is the time machine balloon die which is again coloured with spectrum sparkle and distress inks, however I have also used a little gilding wax. I will list all of the colours etc at the bottom of the post.
For Section Two I have used a patterned paper as my base and then added in some chain stamps (For the love of stamps) and a compass die (Tonic). The rest is still the Time Traveller range. I wanted to make the cogs and the ‘Thingamabob’ a little more interesting so I have used a combination of embossing powders and gilding wax to create different looks; I have also used some Frantage embossing powder (this is a thicker powder) which has given the mottled effect on the ‘Thingamabob’. As I was covering most of this is embossing powder I didn’t put much effort into colouring it; it is mostly a distress ink wash although I have used pencils to colour the fin and the umbrella.
Section Three is a pocket with a blank tag for a personal message; the quill and inkpot are also Sheena Stamps but from the 2016 Christmas range.
Section Four is very similar to Section two; again I have used a patterned base card and then embellished it; the clocks and cogs are embossed the same way as in section two, with the pocket watch face being coloured with distress ink.
Section Five is what the whole project was based on!
I coloured this Time Traveller lady several months ago now but couldn’t decide how to place her. Hopefully, this project will have done justice to the beauty of this stamp 🙂

If you have been paying attention this is not the first 2017 Xmas Crafting but heyho.
Starting with 4 quick cards. Image created in Serif (was actually printing inserts but also had a little play) All four images printed on one A4 MQC stock and cut to size so that matt layer is also only one A4 sheet of hd card stock. Not clear in photo but I have treated them all slightly differently in terms of where I have added glitter.
8″ * 8″ – This one started with an image from HD Xmas little book. It is a nice image but not my style so I challenge myself to use. I cut out the centre image leaving a frame that I have added to an acetate ‘box’. Under I have added a die cut halo and put over the base images, decoupage the inward image from the previously cut out frame ( hope this makes sense). The die cut frames are part of the HD Moonstone range, these particular ones are designed to go with the Little books. The Merry Xmas die is from tonic , part of their bottle wrap inserts.
6″ * 6″ – I also had the topper set etc of the same image so carried on with my challenge to myself. This one is simply using the cut off of the blue HD used on previous card, a linen gold mat plus the topper.
(photo not good, sorry) 7″ * 5″ – Made a bit more effort on this one. Circular topper with a tonic circular die added. The second topper has been created using a different tonic die set. The patterned matt layer is the one deigned by HD to go with this topper set. Gold base, which had the circular topper cut out of it, and the two flashes are some gold glitter wash tape.
Both DL – 1st one is the image from HD card stock (the remaining piece is blue with stars and therefore can easily be used separate from this image ). Added a strip of the gold wash tape and a sentiment. 2nd one is a topper matted onto black. The strip is an offcuts mounted onto a dark purple offcut finished of with a sentiment.
That used up all the images ……
8″ * 8′ Kraft card – There was a piece of card stock left over. I have put gilding wax on edge of card. Black base matt with the card on top. A different image from the Little Book matted onto a HD mirri matt. Gold ribbon with bow plus Xmas sentiment.
In between I also got carried away and sorted my off cuts into colour groups, and threw many bits away as even I do not know why I kept white copy paper off cuts. They are now in poly pockets stored with card stock in the same colour groups. The theory is that I will use up the bits before getting annoyed looking through bits box and just cutting up a new piece of card.
Well I had to tidy properly from last time and what better way than using up the spare bits 🙂
Size 8″ * 8″
Having received my new HunkyDory dies just had to try at least one of them out. It is a shaker card using the new die and some HD snowfall acetate. The addition of a green background and wide xmas ribbon. The sentiment die is also HD, and finally you may recognise THAT die again.
Size 7″ * 5″
Base card has been silver embossed (still magic to watch). Unclear in photo but image is decoupaged with a snowfall acetate dome added.
Size 7″ * 5″
The embossed card was intended to be the base of the previous card but decided I liked it too much to cover so just added a snowflake corner.
Size 8″ * 8″
Left over HD card from last years makes. Added an embossed image, sanded back and silver gilding wax added, mounted on HD rainbow mirri.
Size 7″ * 5″
And to finish the tag is the last bit of of the HD used last week, the image is from the little book just simply matted onto a gold mirri mat on a red card base.
Crafting area is nearly tidy(ish) so might need to do some more today.
Foot Note: I have HunkyDory mats in Rainbow and Gold Little Book size and also Rainbow in 8′ * 8″ and find them invaluable. Depending on what I am adding I often take die cuts out of the centre. The last card I didn’t as I was adding a paper weight topper.
I was not going to Xmas craft today other than to possibly put inserts in and where needed make envelopes, but as they say ‘all good plans’……….
I unwrapped a pack of stencils and the swirly mat was the packaging, couldn’t resist crafting with it. It is a Hunkydory little book image with the top & bottom borders removed (they appear later) My current favourite die cut. The berries are tonic nuvo drops that I made on my glass mat and once set transferred to card.
Hand fussy cut decoupage that I found in the Xmas box, that die again 🙂 . A couple of HD tags and just a simple gold mat.
As simple as it gets. The slightly brown on the bottom has been removed and replaced with filler and sparkles.(The glue although it appeared ‘clean’ obviously had some brown from pin in it, will use a different glue next time)
And finally those two borders added to a gold mat. Backed with some mottled dark red paper and topped with a left over HD topper all from the Xmas scraps box. It needs something else but cannot decide what.
I have also done what I set out to do and all Xmas cards now have inserts and envelopes
Hunky-dory Little book image, a total of four layers. I have used the diamond shaped torn edge and created an inverted decoupage. Acetate with a sentiment embossed wrap and mounted on an easel card. The base backing paper is a paper from Kanban, flowers created from the waste and one of my favourite swirl dies. on the stopper.
Standard decoupage created with the cut-outs from card 1, so in total I have used 5 of the matching little book pages.. Simply mounted on gold layers cut using rectangular torn edge dies.
Torn edge Hexagon card (sorry not photographed well due to the amount of shiney ) Hexagon layers with heart torn edge topper made from yet another little book page. Flowers swirls and banner made from various off cut bits on my desk from last two days of crafting.
Will go back and tidy tomorrow as I am hungry and in need of coffee.
I forgot there was a challenge so spent yesterday doing other stuff and started today completing inserts gets. Then I remembered …………………..
Still using up scraps for base layers and not sure how clear the twisted decoupage is. All decoupage layers cut with torn edge dies. I have also layered a couple of the small flowers, added Tonic nuvo drops to centres, a bow and a sentiment.
Torn edges more obvious on this one, image is from a hunkydory insert the rest having been used as an actual insert on a different card. Backing paper is another hd insert with other half used as the cards insert.
Silver base and hd frame both from scraps box. Image is from the Mens hd little book. Base layer cut with torn edge die, edged with black glitter. I have then decoupaged the two balloons (hd little books are a dream to cut ) one layer on small one and two on larger one. The compass I have cut with a small torn edge die, edged with black pen and then cut the points separately and fixed on a small foam pad. I have also used pin flair clear glaze on small balloon and compass points.
Tomorrow I may even do a couple with the newer torn edge edge dies which I believe is technically the challenge 🙂
