As the title suggests I have had a week off this week so have done some crafting. These are todays makes.
A5 – I did the decoupage for this yesterday so it was quick to finish today.
DL – Left over pieces with the new HD Confetti adorable scorable as a base. The toppers are from a HD topper pad.
7″ * 5* – HD little Book Decoupage with an acetate dome to protect it.
6″ * 6″ – Making use of the left over decoupage, I find it hard to just throw scraps away.
7″ * 7″ – A card for the men, all HunkyDory. A backing paper from an older kit found in scraps box. A cut down little book page and a small topper.
As you can tell all made from stuff on my desk without much addition.
Well I had to tidy properly from last time and what better way than using up the spare bits 🙂
Size 8″ * 8″
Having received my new HunkyDory dies just had to try at least one of them out. It is a shaker card using the new die and some HD snowfall acetate. The addition of a green background and wide xmas ribbon. The sentiment die is also HD, and finally you may recognise THAT die again.
Size 7″ * 5″
Base card has been silver embossed (still magic to watch). Unclear in photo but image is decoupaged with a snowfall acetate dome added.
Size 7″ * 5″
The embossed card was intended to be the base of the previous card but decided I liked it too much to cover so just added a snowflake corner.
Size 8″ * 8″
Left over HD card from last years makes. Added an embossed image, sanded back and silver gilding wax added, mounted on HD rainbow mirri.
Size 7″ * 5″
And to finish the tag is the last bit of of the HD used last week, the image is from the little book just simply matted onto a gold mirri mat on a red card base.
Crafting area is nearly tidy(ish) so might need to do some more today.
Foot Note: I have HunkyDory mats in Rainbow and Gold Little Book size and also Rainbow in 8′ * 8″ and find them invaluable. Depending on what I am adding I often take die cuts out of the centre. The last card I didn’t as I was adding a paper weight topper.
I was not going to Xmas craft today other than to possibly put inserts in and where needed make envelopes, but as they say ‘all good plans’……….
I unwrapped a pack of stencils and the swirly mat was the packaging, couldn’t resist crafting with it. It is a Hunkydory little book image with the top & bottom borders removed (they appear later) My current favourite die cut. The berries are tonic nuvo drops that I made on my glass mat and once set transferred to card.
Hand fussy cut decoupage that I found in the Xmas box, that die again 🙂 . A couple of HD tags and just a simple gold mat.
As simple as it gets. The slightly brown on the bottom has been removed and replaced with filler and sparkles.(The glue although it appeared ‘clean’ obviously had some brown from pin in it, will use a different glue next time)
And finally those two borders added to a gold mat. Backed with some mottled dark red paper and topped with a left over HD topper all from the Xmas scraps box. It needs something else but cannot decide what.
I have also done what I set out to do and all Xmas cards now have inserts and envelopes
… I was trying to be a good bunny in my room!
The Challenge this month is to use something new, however both WC and myself are also trying to be really good and finish off projects that have been started and toppers which have been made but then not added to anything. I already had a small backlog of toppers which has since been added to because I have taken to doing some colouring when away from home; so yesterday I took some time to go through my ‘starts’ tray and divided everything up into ‘Coloured’ ‘Half Coloured’ ‘Not yet coloured at all’ and ‘Completed Toppers’. I am now trying to work my way through them before starting something new, though I have to admit to working on a reward system; having completed the ones that will be shown below I allowed my self a new bit of colouring…
This Is the other Crafters Companion Stamp by Donna
That I bought a few weeks ago which I have coloured with SN alcohol pens and some distress ink. I am also quite pleased with myself because I have used up a piece of backing paper that I didnt like (yay me) and then created a bead trail all over using liquid pearls. I plan to do a more overtly steampunky version but have not yet reached that reward level…
Technically this one still is not finished because it needs a sentiment, but apart from that it all finished! Colouring mediums as above although this one also has twinkling H20 over the top of the flowers – this is what I used before there were sparkle pens 🙂
This next one I started for Mothers Day this year but it got sidelined because I had an order come in which took priority; after which Mothers day was over so I never finished it.
The base of this card is all computer generated
I also printed off a second Daffodil image so that I could colour it; the leavs under the coloured image are actually the same daffodil image coloured in green. I have then foiled the word ‘Mum’ in gold and added several green flicks with my colouring pencil to add to the bouquet along with gems and liquid pearls.
When I originally did the foiling there were some gaps where the glue has not pulled the foil, so I have filled in the holes with more of the 3d paste creating quite a nice ‘bubble’ effect on the word ‘Mum’ although I am not sure how well it can be seen on the photo!
And Finally, this one could also do with an additional sentiment to bridge between the two sections; I have included it here though because the dragonfly topper I have used has been sitting in a drawer for 2 years…
So firstly had to tidy ‘the room’. To be fair it has been a work in progress for a couple of weeks especially since a shelf fell down creating havoc. The shelf is back in situ and various re-arrangements later I am in a good place again.
Hadn’t really decided to xmas craft today but was having a quick look through my xmas HunkyDory stash and immediately thought “that would be perfect for xxxx”. I then got out ‘The Xmas Craft Box’ i.e.. All the bits left over last year, and found some toppers I made and never used.
Not bad for one afternoon 🙂
The card that started it all today, mostly HunkyDory goodness with a corner snowflake and single snowflake die cut added.
Decoupage toppers found in box now turned into little cards. Various glitters added but not clear on photos. I will have to make bespoke envelopes but that will be easy enough.
I also found some digital crafting images which again made but not utilised .
These were made using Serif. I have added sparkle and glitter mainly because I can. They can of course be easily repeated (in fact I already have more than one of each but as I did more or less exactly the same embellishment on them only included one of each)
And finally today the ‘tidying up card’ (please tell me I am not the only one that does it)
Base is the off cut from card one. Then the other main topper on HD sheet. Frames are all on 3D pads or pinflair gel.
That is me done for today but feeling slightly smug that some of xmas is done.
As I am on holiday this week I have had time to craft. Over the last 2/3 weeks I have been completing family cards that cannot as yet be shared but those done I completed a couple more with the things I rejected.
Base pink matt sheet , HD adorable scorable, added some white ‘lace’ to one side and the remains of a insert on the other. A gold coloured ribbon fixed at about 1/3 up from bottom. Two matching Hunky-Dory toppers with small medallions from same topper sheet fixed onto ribbon, all mounted on foam pads.Added embellishments are die cut leaves, pink roses and a bow made from a lace off-cut. Gold nuvo drops added for balance.
Two strips of foiled card for top and bottom with grey card in between. Hunky-dory topper with frame on acetate dome. Black die cuts are the remains from a previous card (tonic die)
All of the parts of this card are all off-cuts, even the die cuts are bits I cut but did not use.
That is me done for a couple of days, hope you enjoy.
The plan for the last two days has been to go through my ‘scrap’ boxes and die cut embellishments and actually throw bits away.
As you can see I did do some die cutting, about 2 hours worth …………….. but the problem with going through the scrap box is you find things to craft with.
Small part of a Little Book page + purple strip of card + black scrap + silver scrap + cut out butterfly + scrap printed acetate, even the card base was in the scrap box. The only new additions are the silver ribbon strips , purple bow and sparkles. Oh and I die cut the sentiment from scraps.
Why I have card blanks in the scrap box I don’t know but a simple one as the topper was already decoupaged so added a gold mat, 3 stars and some nuvo drops.
My first ever pop-up box. White card was an off-cut scored and cut to size. All matts are from the scrap box as are the frogs, flowers and sentiment ( and the acetate strips) The only new addition are the nuvo drops.
Yet another card off-cut folded. Cream paper cut to size with a peel-off border added. The Hunky-Dory topper backed with a gold mat. The two decorative strips cut from an off-cut.
You would think this would mean my scrap boxes would look a bit empty now but to be honest they do not look as if I have touched them.
